As a caddy the Range Finder is the most important part of kit we need to do our job. Although the yardage books we use these days are very detailed there are always some extra numbers we require. On first impressions the quality of this product is instantly noticeable as soon as you take it out of the box and with a price tag of €550, you’d expect to be impressed. In terms of size the Pro XE is slightly bigger than the GolfBuddy I used to have but gives a feeling of a powerful device. 

The buttons on it are easy to use and the slope switch is easy to use. The carry case is well designed with a new elastic string making it easy to access rather than having to unzip every time. 

On the course:

The first thing I noticed when I got it was how clear the sight is. There is a 7x magnification which is the most clear and powerful I’ve seen in a laser. I was easily able to measure a flag on the green from the tee,415 yards away. Very impressive!! It also has a bright red display which is easy to read early in the morning with a low sun and glare from dewy grass. It also has a handy focus dial which can be adjusted according to your liking. Another new feature is the Bite magnet mount on the side which allows you to attach it to the side of your buggy or some trolleys for easy access. 

Verdict:

Bushnell has described the Pro XE as ‘the best laser ever made’ and I have to say I think you’ll struggle to find one which is better. It is a product which looks and feels premium and performs well and quick with easy and precise yardages.
